Making Our lives Simply Safer

Yesterday I spent the day at the Bournemouth Hotel and Catering Show with the lovely Ruth Baker to help promote her new business Simply Safer.

Simply Safer exists in order to support small businesses like us through the mine field of food hygiene laws and regulations. Ruth is an ex Environmental Health Officer and with her help we have been able to streamline our systems to make sure we are compliant without having to fill out reams of paper work every day. She trains all our staff up to standard in both food hygiene and health & safety, and is on hand whenever we need advice.

The day was a huge success (if a little tiring on the old feet!) and we got lots of enquiries from similar businesses who could really benefit from having an expert like Ruth on their team take the stress out of things.

TINY TENTH HOLERS THIS ONE’S FOR YOU!

Always innovating and never standing still, that’s our mantra and we’re always looking for ways to improve our offering to our well loved customers.

As a new Mum, the chance to actually drink a hot cup of tea from start to finish becomes a long forgotten memory. But have no fear, The Tenth Hole Toy Box to the rescue!

Yummy mummies and their cake-covered offspring form a firm part of our customer base and as such, our Team Leader Jasmin is doing everything she can to accommodate our tiny tenth holers.

Jasmin is our newest Team Leader and as an ex-nursery school teacher, she has more of an insight that anyone else on our team as to what mini people want and need.

So last week, we set about shopping in earnest on the Early Learning Centre website and so in the coming weeks you will see a new addition to the tearooms – a brand new Toy Box! This will be located underneath the water table in the main tearooms and will be filled with stacking cups, linking stars and toy houses…

In addition to this, every small person to visit our tearooms will be given a set of colouring pencils and a drawing sheet.

So Mum’s – relax – in the knowledge that our next generation of customer is firmly occupied whilst you can indulge in an ENTIRE cup of hot tea… and maybe another bite of cake…

A New Venture!

After a rigorous tender process, we are excited to announce that we will be the team at the helm of a new deli-style café in the new Arts Quarter at The Hotwalls in Old Portsmouth.

The Canteen will be a warm and vibrant foodie haven, at the heart of the community of Old Portsmouth. Focusing on seasonal and local produce, and providing a daily food offering infused with colour and flavour, The Canteen will be unlike anywhere else in the area. We will offer excellent coffee, fresh juices and fresh food, alongside daily pastries baked in-house. With a glass fronted kitchen and fresh baking from 7 o’clock every morning, we are hoping the sights and smells will entice passers-by through our doors. We are looking forward to becoming a firm part of the local community.

We will be opening 8am – 5pm during the winter, and staying open until 9pm in the summer to offer small plates, wine and beer to be enjoyed on our one-of-a-kind waterfront deck overlooking The Solent.

The Summer will also see the opening of The Hut, located just across from The Canteen, on Broad Street. From here we will serve takeaway coffees, fresh juices and Beach Boxes for sun worshippers looking for refreshment.

With an opening date set for the beginning of July, we are hoping to be up and running in time for a hot and busy summer in this unique and prestigious location.

This will be our second venture and far from taking us away from The Tenth Hole, we are excited to cement our position on the landscape in Portsmouth. With The Tenth Hole at one end of the seafront and The Canteen at the other, you will be able to guarantee excellent refreshment at both ends of your seaside walk!
